Louis C.K., who said recently he'll take his show home, dust it off, figure it out, put some new treads on it, and then take it on a full season run in 2014, will be on "Saturday Night Live" as host Nov. 3. A big deal? Certainly big to fans who esteem the great comic, and also amusing because as part of a major storyline -- which starred David Lynch (of all people) on "Louie"  this past season, he was in line to replace a "retiring" David Letterman on "Late Show." He was a woeful candidate, in fact -- though when he actually did a test run was pretty good -- while in the end it had all been a ruse to knock down Letterman's salary; Letterman re-upped, Dave sent him a note saying he'll never be on "Late Show" again, though one of Louie's friends noted -- in a glass-half-full kind of way -- that at least Louie took $10 million away from Letterman. And now, Louie gets to reprise his late night act on "Saturday Night Live" Nov. 3.

Next: If you missed "SNL" last night, you missed a classic cold open, with Tom Hanks -- it's below; it poked a bit of fun at the Long Islanders who asked questions. Amusing indeed...
