‘Saturday Night Live’ season opener sets ratings record

The ratings are in and “Saturday Night Live” had its best season opener in eight years with a little help from Massapequa native Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump and Sea Cliff’s Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton.

The politically charged episode, which kicked off Season 42, nabbed a 5.8 household rating, up 29 percent from 2015’s opener, according to the Nielsen Company.

Actress Margot Robbie hosted and The Weeknd was the musical guest, but it was the highly publicized political impersonations, which also included former cast member Darrell Hammond as Bill Clinton and Larry David as Sen. Bernie Sanders, that were a huge audience draw.
