Scotty McCreery is next on "American Idol." He's doing what he does best -- deep-voiced take on a country song, "Letters From Home."
Girls are squealing. It's a great song choice since it hits his sweet spots -- sentimental, simple and sincere. He's got a totally memorable voice, nothing super-creative but gets some of the biggest cheers of the night.
Steven Tyler says "I don't think you could've picked a better song . . . that was so beautiful." Jennifer Lopez says "you were born to sing country music, right in your lane."
Randy Jackson says he's like a throwback guy, not trying to make the pop charts.
Stefano Langone is next, doing Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are" -- wow, he's quite good. He's got a sincere, soaring voice and a nice tone.
I'm really enjoying this. It's a great pick, a fun song to listen to and he's got the crowd ooohing as he hits the high notes. Lot of good energy.
"Love the way your voice cuts through the air in this room," says Tyler aptly. J.Lo says she's always "loving everything you're doing, nothing awkward about you up there . . . you're a beast!"
Randy says "we were all enjoying this like we're at a concert or something." Calls him radio-ready.
Now that was fun.
