Stefano Langone is doing Stevie Wonder's "Lately," because, he says, the words tell a story -- oh-oh, that's traditionally not a good move on "American Idol."
His performance is heartfelt and he's trying hard. He has an interesting twist on the song and goes big. But I don't know, it's not a great song pick. It never hits a flow, just a series of going for big moments. Fun to listen to, though.
"You pulled it off," says Steven Tyler, as Jennifer Lopez says "you had me dancing there for a minute, baby," calling it his dance-remix version. Randy Jackson says it started off rocky, but "you slayed it, very nicely done."
Karen Rodriguez is next, doing Selena's "I Could Fall in Love." It's OK, nothing special for me. No passion, oddly enough. Hits some really nice notes toward the end though, when the pace picks up. She should do more of that.
J.Lo says it seemed like you were a bit uncomfortable, "hope you make it until next week." Randy says it felt like you were "fighting the song," he liked the run at the end, too, but found it sleepy overall. Steven agrees.
