At least the game was great, because the ads in between -- the filler that in some years can be better than the big show itself -- were largely disappointing. There were charmers, and clever ones and dumb ones and one or two interesting ones. But overall, not much to write home about, sorry to say.
Part of the problem was this: We were too familiar with too many of them because they had already been released online. Plus, a bunch that were supposed to be the best, in many instances, were truncated from their online versions. As a result, a good online 60-second ad -- the Kia "Sandman" as an example, turned into a late-game "so what."
Overall, a C + for the ads.
