George Lopez, who loudly and proudly joined the late night lineup as TV's only Latino host of that very Anglo medium, has been, well, I'm sorry, but you know what he's been.

Canceled.

Last episode Thursday night!

This is a bit of surprise. "Lopez" was a huge undertaking for TBS, and Lopez' show -- with a live audience and band and enough energy to remind people of a former minority host, Arsensio Hall -- arrived three seasons ago with much promise. Lopez got high profile guests, and turned out to be a reasonably competent interviewer.

And then, Conan.

Yes, a shinier toy beckoned, and TBS took advantage. "Conan" took over the 11 p.m. time period, and pushed "Lopez Tonight" to midnight -- when the measure known as "homes using television" drops off the cliff.

Here's the TBS statement:  TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of "Lopez Tonight." Thursday will be the final episode of the show.

We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air.
