TV's first looks at Osama Bin Laden - from 1997


 Americans didn't know all that much about Osama bin Laden back in the late '90s; TV news was largely preoccupied with Monicagate, and a bunch of other stuff that now seems so sad and pathetic and insignificant in hindsight

  But there were three very good TV reporters who paid attention - I say two, but there were many, but these interviews were among the very first. I start with CNN's Peter Bergen/ Peter Arnett OBL encounter - it set the table for viewers and policy-makers alike.
