"Wheel of Fortune Live!" is about to take a spin on Long Island.

As the syndicated version of the popular TV game show approaches its 40th anniversary next year, "Wheel" will embark on a tour of more than 60 cities including a stop at Tilles Center in Brookville on Oct. 7. Audience members will have a chance to spin a replica of the famous wheel, solve puzzles and compete for prizes including $10,000 and trips to Paris and Hawaii. The stage version is produced by Right Angle Entertainment in partnership with Sony Pictures Television and United Talent Agency.

Tickets for "Wheel of Fortune Live!" go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at wheeloffortunelive.com. And the price of admission is considerably less than the cost of a vowel: tickets start at $29.50.

Hosts for the live show are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. "Wheel of Fortune," which was created by Merv Griffin, premiered as a daytime show on NBC in 1975 with Chuck Woolery as host and Susan Stafford turning letters on the puzzle board. Pat Sajak replaced Woolery in 1981 and White succeeded Stafford the following year.

Sajak left the daytime edition in 1989 to star in a short-lived late-night talk show, though he continued hosting the syndicated version. Former football player Rolf Benirschke took Sajak's place in the daytime show in January 1989. When the daytime show moved to CBS that summer, Benirschke was replaced by Bob Goen, who remained until CBS canceled the show in 1991.
