A trailer for "Ender's Game" has hit the Web, offering a glimpse of the upcoming adaptation of Orson Scott Card's best-selling sci-fi novel from 1985.
It's clear what finally pushed the studios to make the novel: The sudden proliferation of movies based on young-adult novels, many of them set in schools ("Harry Potter"), training camps ("Percy Jackson") or violent competitions ("The Hunger Games"). In that sense, "Ender's Game" seems a few decades ahead of its time: It tells the story of a very young boy, Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), chosen to undergo intense training for a potentially apocalyptic battle against a race of hostile aliens.
Also in the cast are Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin and Hailee Steinfeld ("True Grit").
"Ender's Game" is due in theaters Nov. 1.
