Family, friends mourn loss of bride-to-be

PEARL RIVER - Family and friends are mourning the loss of the bride-to-be killed in a boating accident on the Hudson River over the weekend.

Family tells News 12 that Lindsey Stewart and groom-to-be Brian Bond were out celebrating when the speedboat they were on crashed into a barge. Stewart and best man Mark Lennon, of Pearl River, were thrown from the boat. Bond suffered head injuries and remains hospitalized.

Stewart's body was found in the Hudson Saturday, and a Jet Skier found Lennon's body on Sunday morning. The Rockland County medical examiner says Stewart died from head injuries and drowning. Lennon died from injuries and drowning as well.

Family members say Stewart and Bond were childhood friends who fell in love three years ago. They were set to be married on Aug. 10 in Pearl River. Stewart worked in the human resources office at Presidential Life Insurance Company in Nyack. Bond is an art teacher in the White Plains School District for the past 12 years.

Wake services for Stewart will be held on Wednesday. A funeral service is expected to be held on Thursday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River.
