Fiscally focused, Levy gives his view of state furlough move

From Suffolk Executive Steve Levy, who's seeking the GOP nomination for governor, via campaign spokesman Josh Hills, who was contacted for the candidate's response:

“Whether or not the Legislature decides to employ a furlough or another type of concession, it is imperative that there be sacrifices across the board to prevent the state from going insolvent.  I have been critical of the government for waiting 18 months into this financial crisis to finally take some action, but perhaps now we may be able to avoid layoffs.  These are the types of tough decisions that New Yorkers expect from their public officials, not more borrowing to appease special interests.”
