While trick-or-treating is for the kiddies, adults looking to get in the Halloween spirit have plenty of options for parties and costume contests in the Hudson Valley. Be sure to dress to impress -- some of the venues are giving away cash and prizes for the sexiest, scariest, funniest and most unusual costumes. Find details on local parties, below.

The Brazen Fox in White Plains

With two floors plus an outdoor patio, The Brazen Fox is a nightspot where the party goes late into the night (175 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains; 914-358-5911; This year it's offering a chance to celebrate Halloween with its Dress to Impress costume contest. The contest, held on Halloween (Wednesday, Oct. 31) will include prizes for the top three costumes: free gas for one year for first place, a two-hour open-bar party for 10 people for second and an Xbox 360 for third. The costume party, which feature a DJ for the duration of the night, begins at 9:30 p.m.

Maggie Spillane’s Ale House in Mount Vernon

Maggie Spillane’s, which features rooftop dining and a beer garden, will host its Halloween Bash from 9 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday, Oct. 31 (571 Gramatan Ave, Mount Vernon; 914-699-8900; The event will feature a $30 open bar as well as festive drinks like pumpkin ale and witches brew. The rooftop will be open and decked out for Halloween with spooky decorations and a fog machine, and a DJ will keep the party going all night. There will be first-, second- and third-place cash prizes for the best costumes.
