The son of a Haverstraw man who was stabbed Wednesday night has been charged in the attack, authorities said.

Luis Estrella, 24, of Haverstraw, was charged with felony first-degree assault after allegedly stabbing his 44-year-old father in a Broadway apartment around 6 p.m., police told News12.

The father was rushed to a nearby hospital with arm injuries that are not considered life-threatening, authorities said. Estrella also suffered minor injuries.

The stabbing allegedly took place after a fight between the two men, according to neighbors. A woman who lives next door but declined to give her name told News12 she happened by while the father and son were arguing and said she later saw "blood gushing everywhere."

Authorities recovered the knife from the scene.

Estrella was arraigned Wednesday night in Haverstraw village court and was sent to Rockland County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. No attorney was listed for him, a village court clerk said.
