Welcome to the Newsday app. Here you will find some frequently asked questions.

I'm a Newsday subscriber. What do I have access to?

If you are a 7-day Newsday home delivery or Digital Access subscriber, you have access to the Newsday app for iPhone and iPad at no charge. Within the Newsday app you have access to the digital edition of each day's paper plus a 30-day archive.

I'm an iTunes subscriber. What do I have access to?

If you subscribe through iTunes, you have access to the Newsday app for iPhone and iPad. Within the Newsday app you have access to the digital edition of each day's paper plus a 30-day archive.

What content is available on the Newsday app?

The Newsday app offers continuously updating news feeds for all your favorite categories like Top Stories, Long Island, Lifestyle, Entertainment, Business, Sports, and more.

Today's Paper is a full version of the Newsday print edition that you can read within the Newsday app or download for offline reading.

Can I save stories for reading offline?

Yes, tap the button at the top of the screen while viewing the article. You can find your saved articles by tapping on the icon in the upper left, then choosing the icon at the bottom of the menu.

How can I share stories?

To share stories, tap on the and select your preferred method, including email, Facebook or Twitter.

How can I start/stop push notifications?

When you first launch the app, you can elect to have push notifications sent to you from a variety of different news sections. You can also turn them on or off by tapping on the icon in that area and toggling any or all of the desired options on/off.

How do I change the font size in the app?

You can make the font size larger and smaller by tapping on the icon at the top of an article.

Can I use the Newsday app when traveling?

Yes, you can use the app anywhere as long as you have a Wi-Fi connection or a cellular network connection to download and update content. Normal network data rates apply, and you may incur roaming charges while traveling. You can access your downloaded articles or edition of "today's paper" offline while traveling as well.

Where can I read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service?

You can access the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service by tapping on the icon in the upper left, then choosing at the bottom of the menu.

How can I submit feedback about the app?

You can submit feedback by emailing helpme@newsday.com anytime. You may submit an email via the app by tapping on the icon in the upper left, then choosing at the bottom of the menu, and then choosing Send Feedback.

What is the difference between the Newsday app and newsday.com?

Newsday.com is accessed through your device's web browser and requires you to be connected to the Internet. With the Newsday app you can download and save articles for offline reading. You can also download the print edition of Newsday for either online or offline reading. The Newsday app provides you with an experience that was designed specifically for your device.

Today's paper

Where do I find today's edition of the paper?

Upon launching the Newsday app on the iPad, you can access the latest print replica edition by tapping on the icon in the bottom navigation, or by tapping on the cover image on the app home screen.

You can read the edition instantly or download to save permanently to your device from the app. You have the ability to read the edition online while connected to the Internet or to download the edition or selected pages to read offline.

How do I use "Today's Paper" browser?

You can swipe from page to page; tap the arrows to move through pages or jump to the end, or even skip to a specific page by tapping the page number at the top of the screen and entering the desired page number in the box.

How do I download an edition?

You can download an edition by tapping on icon in the top right corner of the edition and then tapping on Download This Edition. The edition will begin downloading. You can check its progress by going to the My Downloaded Pages, available via the same menu. The edition will continue to download when the app is open in the background, as long as connectivity is not lost.

How do I navigate through pages or archived editions?

Once in the latest print replica edition on the iPad, there are two buttons labeled Archive and Pages in the top left, which will bring up a scrollable list of pages or past editions of the paper. Also, under the Menu button, you can tap on Sections to get an expandable list of all sections in the paper for quick navigation. Ex.: tap on the Long Island link and it will take you to the Long Island pages in the paper.

Note: There is no pages functionality on the iPhone.

Can I search for content in "Today's Paper"?

You can go under the Menu button on the iPad or iPhone and tap Search. That allows you to search by keyword either in that day's edition or in all editions. Tap on the results to bring back the page with the story you are searching for.
