CENTRAL ISLIP - Police say there are new clues in the search for a hit-and-run driver that seriously injured a Central Islip man.

Police say someone in a dark-colored minivan hit Edgar Abrego on Carlton Avenue on Aug. 17. The 25-year-old suffered head injuries.

Police have released a photo that shows the minivan that hit Abrego. The vehicle has damage to the side mirror and windshield.

Anyone that has seen the minivan is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Investigators are also looking for the good Samaritan who stopped his white car and backed up to protect Abrego from being hit again.
