JERSEY CITY - For the first time since 2008, Jersey City held the Freedom and Fireworks Festival at Liberty State Park.

Mayor Steven Fulop says that when New York Mayor Bill de Blasio moved the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks back to the East River, it opened an opportunity for the city to create their own fireworks show.

The weather cleared up around 5 p.m., but crowds of spectators had already arrived with canopies, tents and blankets to stay dry.

In addition to the fireworks, the event included live music, magic acts, rides for kids and dozens of food trucks.
