John J. Santorelli, 90, a lifelong Brewster resident, died Nov. 25, 2012, at home.
Santorelli was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Brewster to parents Ralph and Levia Santorelli.
He was a 1942 graduate of Brewster High School. He served on the LST 327 in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and received the Purple Heart.
Santorelli married Lena Zerbato on Sept. 22, 1946, in Mahopac.
He was a general foreman for Metro-North Railroad in Brewster for 30 years before retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the VFW Post 672 in Brewster, the DAV Chapter 137 in Peekskill and the National LST Association.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard J. and his wife, Ronnie Santorelli, of Warren, Conn.; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Matthew and Rachel; a brother, Joseph, of Sidney; a nephew, John Pelaccio; a niece, Linda Vivian; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Ralph.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery in Brewster.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster.
