The death of a 45-year-old Kingston woman discovered in her home Sunday afternoon is the subject of a criminal investigation, police said.

Anita Jacobs-Royer was found at her Third Avenue home after police received a phone call from a concerned family member, Lt. Thierry Croizer said Tuesday.

Police are searching for Jacobs-Royer's SUV, a 1998 Isuzu Trooper bearing a New York license plate number of GDD-8741 and a New York Jets spare tire cover.

Authorities are awaiting autopsy results, and Croizer declined to provide further details on the case, citing the ongoing investigation.

The Ulster County Sheriff's Office, the county's district attorney's office and State Police are assisting the investigation, Croizer said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Kingston police at 845-331-1671.
