A field of dreams, in Asharoken

If you are looking for your own field of dreams, you don't have to build it yourself. A 21.9-acre property in Asharoken has everything, it seems -- even its own baseball field.

Miner Crary, a Boston-based businessman whose family has owned the Duck Island Way estate since it was built 82 years ago, remembers annual gatherings there. "Right from the time it was built in 1929, neighbors, friends and family would gather for the annual 4th of July and Labor Day baseball games on the large field near the house," he says.

The estate is now on the market for $12 million, listed with Jacqueline Lewisy of Signature Premier Properties.

The main house has 11 bedrooms and 61 / 2 baths, with 6,722 square feet of living space. The roof is made of hand-split red cedar, with side shingles of Louisiana swamp cedar. Almost every window has a water view, Lewisy says. A guesthouse and barn with living space add four bedrooms. There's also a pond, root cellar, extensive gardens and 5,000 feet of private beachfront. -- LAURA MANN

HISTORIC KINGS POINT TUDOR

Real estate developer, art collector and Broadway producer Elie Hirschfeld has put his Kings Point estate on the market for $8.95 million.

The 1929 French Tudor has been completely renovated with an eye to retaining its historic integrity, says Ilene Parsont of Soheila Sharf Realty, who has the listing. So, although the masonry-and-stone home contains state-of-the-art smart technology as well as new plumbing, electrical and stereo systems, it still looks period, thanks in part to details such as antique slate roof shingles.

Stephen Byrns, a former New York City Landmarks commissioner, was the architect on the project.

The 1.5-acre property has a heated pool, tennis and basketball courts, a three-car garage and manicured lawns.

There are nine bedrooms, nine baths and two half-baths, as well as two kitchens and four fireplaces. -- VALERIE KELLOGG
