2 Rockettes make the trek from Radio City Music Hall to Long Island to meet with young fans

Two Radio City Music Hall Rockettes will meet fans on Long Island Wednesday before starting rehearsals later this week for the 2015 "Christmas Spectacular."

Jennifer Clavin of Holtsville and Eleni Gavalas of Manhasset are scheduled to be visit Northport Park from 2 to 2:45 p.m.; Variations, A Dancer's Studio at 180 Spring Rd. in Huntington from 3 to 3:45 p.m.; and The Dolphin Book Shop, 299 Main St. in Port Washington from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m.

The women will essentially be doing a meet-and-greet. "We get together with kids in the community," says Rockette Sarah Grooms of Columbus, Ohio, who did a similar outing this week in Connecticut. "We just want to reach out and have a good time with them. We do little kick lines and take photos."

The Rockettes debuted in the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" in 1933 and are a holiday tradition in New York City. There are 80 Rockettes in all.
