A different kind of family portrait, for cheap

My husband, son and I recently posed for our first family portrait. So when this strip of photos showed up in my Facebook feed, I took notice.

It is not that the photos taken by the professional photographer we hired aren’t beautiful. It’s that I never thought until I saw these photo booth photos how special they can be, too.

There's color, energy and unbridled joy.

“It was a spontaneous thing for fun -- to document a lovely day together,” says Huntington mother Ewa Adamcyk Alvarez, who describes lunch at Chipotle, pants shopping for one of the children, a stop for donuts and “having nice conversation with each other -- just being together.”

The photos featuring Ewa, husband, Joao, and their three children – from left, Alina, 11 months, Lucjan, 7, and Kuba, 10,  -- were snapped at the Broadway Mall in Hicksville and cost only $3. The booth accepts debit and credit cards as well as cash.

Ewa, an artist and photographer, says she isn’t too happy with the quality of the photos, so she might split them up and “give one to each of us as a keepsake.”

I say she should frame them and put them on prominent display to remember the family's special day always.
