Who is stealing cookies from local bakeries? Cookie Monster, of course! In the new iPhone and iPad app, The Great Cookie Thief, children and adults alike will enjoy the tale based on the 1977 "Sesame Street" book by Emily Perl Kingsley and illustrated by Michael Smollin.

The interactive version is set in an Old West town and encourages kids to piece together the clues and use evidence to solve the case of the mystery bandit. In the story, citizens spot a new guy in town who could be the cookie thief and they compare his characteristics to those featured in a "Wanted" poster.

It's narrated by Cookie Monster himself and there are alternative endings so the story changes everytime you read. I loved the section where you can create, print and share "Wanted" posters using a virtual photo booth, paintbrushes and stickers, but since my daughter, Maggie, is only 16-months-old, she enjoyed swiping the pages, tapping the characters to make them move and listening to the story.
