Kids can portray their favorite place on Long Island in a poster and enter it in the third annual Arts Alive LI Poster Contest. Entries are due by May 22. The contest is best suited to kids who draw, paint, or specialize in graphic arts or photography.

Winning posters in three categories – prekindergarten to grade 5, grades 6 to 8, and high school – will be displayed in October at the Long Island Children’s Museum.

“At the Alliance we are committed to arts education as well as promoting our region’s arts and culture,” says Theresa Statz-Smith, executive director of the Long Island Arts Alliance, which is presenting the contest. “We’re looking for passion, and it just should be beautiful and something that comes from the heart.” Last year’s winner, pictured, was by Audrey Zhang of Island Trees Memorial Middle School in Levittown.

For poster design guidelines and an entry form, visit artsalive.li.org/poster-contest.
