Long Island kids with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are eligible to attend Camp Oasis, a sleepaway camp that provides them with a safe and supportive community. The camp for kids from New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine is scheduled for Aug. 16-21 at Camp Scatico in Elizaville, New York.
Camp Oasis is run by the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. CCFA runs 12 weeklong camp sessions across the country, staffed by hundreds of volunteer counselors and medical professionals. CCFA underwrites 65 percent of the cost of camp attendance, and scholarships are available for campers in need.
