Do you have a budding filmmaker on your hands? If so, you may want to sign your child up for Cinema Arts Centre's new filmmaking workshops.
Co-presented by Long Island Motion Picture Arts Center and Museum, kids ages 5 to 13 can learn the trade and get hands-on instruction for developing their own movies.
The workshops will be held on Saturdays in June. In the first session, children will learn about and create their own line drawing animations and watch them come to life using light boxes. The second session teaches kids about stop motion animation as they shoot scenes using changeable figures on an animation movie set. In the final session, your child will star in a special-effects movie. They'll interact with the green screen and different special effects. All the finished films will be shown at the end of the session.
The children's filmmaking workshops will take place Saturday, June 13, 20 and 27 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington. The course tuition is $145. To learn more and register, visit CinemaArtsCentre.org.
