Mark your summer calendars — beginning July 5 and running through Aug. 30, The Whaling Museum & Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor will offer free (or pay-as-you-wish) admission from 5 to 7 p.m. each Wednesday.

This is the first time the museum will be open during evenings, says Cindy Grimm, museum assistant director. “We call it Welcome Wednesdays,” Grimm says. “We were trying to promote the museum and be able to allow for more people to come visit during the week, working families. We thought it would be nice for the summer.”

The museum is located at 301 Main St., Cold Spring Harbor. For more information, call 631-367-3418; cshwhalingmuseum.org. Usual admission is $6 per adult and $5 per child or senior citizen.
