Teens who want to see “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” can see the movie on Thursday evening (prior to the official opening on Friday, Nov. 18) and enjoy a pre-movie party at Soundview Cinemas in Port Washington.

The fun starts at 7 p.m. A $25 ticket ($20 per person if purchasing two tickets) covers the movie as well as food by O’Hara’s Ale House & Grill, including chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese, sliders and wings, says Cynthia Litman of MomTime Events, which is sponsoring the showing.

Local businesses are also participating in the event. Charlotte’s Closet of Port Washington and Victor Talbots of Greenvale will have teen models showing potential prom dresses and tuxedos. Amaranthus on Main in Port Washington will display corsages. Sylvan Learning Center of Port Washington is planning a magical science station. The event will also raise money for the annual prom for students at Port Washington’s Schreiber High School.

The movie is part of the Harry Potter universe and is written by J.K. Rowling. It takes viewers back to 1926, and is named after a classic Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry textbook written by the fictional Newt Scamander. It’s rated PG-13.

Soundview Cinemas is at 7 Soundview Marketplace in Port Washington. Tickets can be purchased at or at the door.
