There was the rose garden one year that my husband and son planted (yes, I always wanted one), and a bright blue bicycle another year after I just casually mentioned I would like to have one someday. Then the surprise laundry room makeover to remake my cleaning duties a little more pleasant (a little). Such a lucky Mom am I.
But the perfectly imperfect gifts my son has given me over the years will stick forever, like this bowl, above, he tried so hard to craft with his growing fingers, and this "Mom" necklace he picked out at a school fair and bought all by himself (for under $5, I think), and this masterpiece I absolutely had to frame and hang in my office.
What will my son give me this year? I can't wait to find out, and will make a space for it, whatever it is.
