Free Halloween spooktacular events for kids are happening this weekend, including parties and more at two Long Island malls.
The annual Kidgits Boo Bash will be held at Smith Haven Mall on Saturday, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Center Court. There will be several activity stations and games for children, including pumpkin decorating, Halloween crafts, "Mummy Wrap Relay" and more. Capital One will be hosting a fall crown craft and families can enjoy treats from Auntie Anne's, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang's China Bistro and more. Kids are encouraged to come in their costumes. Stride Rite will be offering shoe fittings, Team Dawg will present information about stranger danger and Cohen Children's Medical Center will provide snack cards, illustrating how to make smiles out of apples and other treats. Simon Kidgits members can also decorate their own pumpkin and take home a bag of goodies.
Also on Saturday, children are invited to meet Brobee from "Yo Gabba Gabba!" and participate in other Halloween activities at Westfield South Shore (1701 Sunrise Hwy., Bay Shore). Kids can meet Brobee from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Lord & Taylor Court, followed by crafts, face painting and a DJ until 3:30 p.m. Children are welcome to wear their costumes.
Additionally, the Smith Haven Mall will offer a safe trick-or-treating event for families on Friday, Oct. 31, from 3 to 5 p.m. Children in costume can visit participating mall retailers, who will give out treats, while supplies last. Westfield South Shore's trick-or-treating event will also take place on Halloween, from noon to 4 p.m.
