Musical cartoon character Gustafer Yellowgold may be from the sun, but this weekend he’s landing at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington for a live performance that is perfect for kids.

The show, run by illustrator, songwriter and performer Morgan Taylor, is described as a “musical moving storybook.” It features a combination of pop music, rock jams and hand-drawn cartoon videos.

Taylor and his cartoon pal have been touring since 2005, and their latest multimedia show incorporates tunes from their four previous DVD releases, including 2012’s “Gustafer Yellowgold’s Year in the Day.” The performance will also feature the live debut of a song and character, “Rock Melon.”

After the show, Taylor, who has been recognized by New York magazine as a top kids’ performer, will lead a creative workshop for children ages 6-10. Attendees will learn how to draw Gustafer and even how to create their own cartoon. Space is limited and there’s a $10 fee, so make sure to sign up your budding cartoonist beforehand.

You and your family can catch Gustafer Yellowgold’s Rock Melon Tour on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 12 p.m. at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington. Click here for more information.
