Two Long Island Simon malls are offering Halloween activities for kids:

Smith Haven Mall, at routes 347 and 25 in Lake Grove, is offering two Halloween events — its annual Kidgits Boo Bash from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Center Court, and its Safe Trick-or-Treat event from 1 to 3 p.m. on Halloween.

The Kidgits Boo Bash is open to members of the Simon Kidgits Club; kids ages 3 to 8 can join Kidgits for $5 a year online at or visit Simon Guest Services at Smith Haven Mall’s Center Court. At the bash, children can make safe trick-or-treat reflector necklaces and decorate a pumpkin, among other activities. Food samples will be provided courtesy of California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Mosaic Turkish Grill, Teavana and Auntie Anne’s.

On Halloween, all costumed children can visit participating mall retailers, identified with an orange pumpkin in the windows, who will give out free treats while supplies last. Families can have Halloween photos taken from noon to 5 p.m. in Center Court; visit Simon Guest Services for discount coupons for photo packages that start at $10.

Walt Whitman Shops, on Route 110 in Huntington Station, invities families to its Safe Trick-or-Treat event all day on Oct. 31. Costumed children can stop by mall retailers, identified with a pumpkin in the windows, who will give out treats while supplies last. Families can pick up a list of participating retailers at Simon Guest Services.

From noon to 6 p.m. in Center Court, children can have their Halloween photo taken for a donation of $10 per photo; each additional photo is $5. All proceeds will go to the Melville Lions Club, which serves the less fortunate in the community.
