Today is National Grandparents Day — a day to celebrate and reflect on all the grands in your life.
My 18-month-old daughter, Maggie, has a special bond with her grandparents. As a working mom, my husband and I are fortunate that our parents help watch Maggie during the week.
According to my parents and in-laws, reading is one of their favorite activities to do together while we're at work. Our house is stocked with books and Maggie knows just where to find them. As soon as one of the grandparents arrive, Maggie pulls out a few books for them to read.
So if you're looking for a special way to celebrate the grandparents in your life, why not pick up a book about grandmas and grandpas that your child can read along with them?
Here, a few children's books featuring all things grand:
"All About Grandmas," by Roni Schotter, illustratedJanice Nadeau (Dial; $16.99) celebrates the love and wisdom all grandmas have in common.
"Grandpa Green," by Lane Smith (Roaring Brook Press New York; $16.99), a touching story featuring a young child and his grandfather.
"Little Critter: Grandma, Grandpa, and Me," Mercer Mayer (HarperFestival; $3.99). Join Little Critter for his sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's farm where he milks cows, picks blueberries and more.
