John Walsh, the child safety advocate who is best known as the host of TV’s “America’s Most Wanted,” was on Long Island this week to mark 20 years of partnership with Canon U.S.A., whose headquarters is in Melville.

Walsh is also co-founder of the National Center for Exploited & Missing Children. Through the years, Canon has raised and donated more than $8 million to the center, including 2,200 products for distribution to law enforcement agencies to aid in their work finding missing children.

Walsh has been an outspoken advocate for child safety and a driving force behind major pieces of child protection legislation since the abduction and murder of his son Adam in 1981.
