Kidsday attends the NYC Chocolate Show

CHOCOLATE… Just the sound of it makes our mouths water. On Saturday, Nov. 13 we had the opportunity to attend the Manhattan Chocolate Show at the Metropolitan Pavilion. There we got to taste chocolates from all around the world. You don’t believe us? Listen to these mouth-watering combinations from the company 2 Chicks with chocolate, whose signature recipes consist of putting spices in their chocolate.

One of our favorites was Rock ‘N’ Pop, milk chocolate covered popcorn with toffee crunch and Pop Rocks! Another was Peppermint Bark, which is creamy, white chocolate, and candy cane peppermint crunch. You can find out more about these tasty treats at

Some of the other chocolates were just too pretty to eat such as those made by Rogue Confections. They had patterns for all holidays and special occasions. You name it, they make it. Their creations can be found at

We also had an amazing opportunity to interview pastry chefs, Martin Howard and Pablo Cartaya, the authors of “Tina Cocolina: Queen of the Cupcakes.” They created a cute children’s book of a little girl trying to find the perfect topping for a cupcake contest. You can find out more about the book if you read it. The book can be purchased at your local bookstore. Pablo and Martin performed a little play for the younger kids that we starred in. We found it creative how they presented what happened in the book. Not only did the children enjoy it, but we found it exciting as well. Kids from pre-school to age 10 would love this book.  It even comes with recipes for you to make.

We had the most outrageous time at the Chocolate Show. We sampled our favorite chocolates and we also discovered some dislikes. We hope that we can go again next year; maybe we’ll see you there!
