Last Sunday we had the pleasure of going to Bar on Fifth in the Setai Fifth Avenue Hotel to see “Tunes With Tina,” a live musical brunch hosted by Tina deVaron. When we got there, we met Tina, and she told us we would be able to sing along with her and request songs while she played the piano.

Tina is very funny and energetic and she is a great piano player. She has been playing the piano since she was 6, and she was able to play and sing anything we asked her to.

While we were looking over the all the delicious choices on the brunch menu, Tina played a medley of songs from great Disney films such as “Mary Poppins,” “The Sound of Music” and “The Little Mermaid.” She played lots of other great songs just to get us in the mood. She then played a few songs where we overcame our shyness and started to sing along with Tina and the other kids (and adults!) in the audience.

We even sang “Fifty-Nifty,” a song where you can sing all 50 states in alphabetical order. One of our favorite songs was “Willoughby Wallaby Woo,” a song to remember names. Every kid in the audience’s name was mentioned. Tina takes a short break and then we all gathered around the piano for more singing, and Tina takes requests throughout the morning. Kids were dancing, kids were clapping, but most of all, we were singing.

The Bar on Fifth is a very fancy and sophisticated place, and we met very friendly, helpful hosts and waitresses. The food was delicious. For our brunch, we ordered fruit kebabs with a berry yogurt sauce, baked macaroni and cheese, organic chicken tenders and scrambled eggs. Shows are Sundays at 10 a.m. This is a great activity to do with grandparents, parents, siblings and friends. We will never forget Tina, the songs, and the singing we shared with her!
