I read "Big Nate: Great Minds Think Alike," by Lincoln Peirce (Andrews McMeel Publishing). This book was great. I don't know if you've read this book series, but let me introduce you to some of the characters:
The main character is Nate Wright. He has three friends: Teddy, Francie and Gordie. He has a dad, and a crush named Jenny. There are bullies, Chester and Randy, and archenemies Gina and Ms. Godfrey.
This story is mostly about Nate through the school year and summer. Nate is not like the other kids. For homework he makes his own comic book. Somehow he holds a lot of things in his locker, which is a mess. He knows he is not as smart as the other kids. He likes sports, but he also gets bullied a lot. And he is always getting in trouble, which leads to detention in school. All of this stuff makes for a very funny book. He always has something to say to people who tease or bug him, and that is what makes this series so much fun to read.
