I would like to share with you a charity event called Alec’s Run. Alec’s Run has been going on now for about 13 years. This year it will be on Saturday, April 28, at the Half Hollows Hills High School West in Dix Hills, and anyone can come.

At 9 a.m. there is a fun run for kids, and then at 9:30 am there is a 4-mile run/walk. When you are done with a run or about to start a run, you are always welcome to a table full of many different foods, sweets and drinks.

Alec’s Run was created by my old softball coach, Bill Nelson, and his family. His son, Alec, died in 2005 in a car accident. My coach has been going to meetings speaking about car safety because his son was run over. Over the years cars have been becoming more advanced, such as having cameras in the back so when you or your parent are backing out of a parking spot, you will see what’s behind the car.

The family also does other charitable activities such as supporting Christmas dinner at the Northport VA and providing fruit to 125 children at a church camp. Thank you to everyone who is joining Alec’s Run. To sign up, go to https://nwsdy.li/2nMBNjy
