When I entered the middle school, I wanted to get involved in activities in the school. I applied to be a member of the Builder's Club and was chosen to be a part of the club. The Builder's Club is a group that has been around my school for about 12 years. Our adviser, Maria Ostrofsky, does an amazing job coming up with different ways to help our community. Here are some of the fun things that the club has participated in:
STUFF A BACKPACK -- collected backpacks and school supplies for those in need.
GIVE YOUR SOLE -- collected shoes and sneakers to donate.
BREAST CANCER WALK -- raised money and participated in walk at Jones Beach.
LETTERS TO VETERANS -- thank-you letters to veterans for keeping our country safe.
TANNER PARK SENIOR CENTER -- visited with senior citizens.
PENNIES FOR PATIENTSFOOD AND TOY DRIVES
The Builder's Club has been in the newspaper many times, won awards for fundraising, and received a letter from President Barack Obama thanking us for all we have done. At first, I didn't know what the club was about. After joining, I realized this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. If there is a club like this in your school, find out how to join. You won't regret it.
