Building reading muscles at Literacy Club

One of the best clubs in our school is the Literacy Club. This club meets before school every Friday morning, and it is a great way to learn while having fun. I was selected for this club because I transitioned from a bilingual class to an English-speaking class. Everyone in the Literacy Club knows two languages, Spanish and English.

In Literacy Club, we read a lot to build our reading muscles! Everyone in Literacy Club practices summarizing stories, making predictions, clarifying vocabulary words and thinking of questions about the story. We also use Thinking Maps to organize our thoughts. We all don't mind coming to school an hour early because we're learning a lot and getting stronger and stronger as readers.
