We attended the grand opening of a brand-new store, CAMP. It is best described as a fun experience for kids and families. The store is located at 110 Fifth Ave. in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. When we first arrived, we thought we were in a regular toy-candy store. What we didn’t expect was the huge secret door.

We entered the secret room and didn’t feel like we were in New York City anymore. The space was converted into a camp themed experimental, STEM activity center for families with kids of all ages. There was something for everyone.

We especially loved the room with authentic camp bunk beds  that had a slide to enter the next room, which has a disco theme. The walls were covered in reverse sequins and we had fun making pictures on the wall. There was also a CAMPitheatre which will have programming and events for all ages. They also will have magic shows and craft classes. As we walked through CAMP, we discovered many areas to explore. One of our favorites was the edible bubbles, which was so cool. The bookshelves and other furniture had crafts and other items to play with on them. We doodled with a huge multicolor crayon. There was a digital dock that played music, when you walked over it. We had fun playing in the old-fashioned station wagon that had a road simulator in the front. We truly felt like we were at a sleep-away  camp.

The theme of this store will change every 8 to 12 weeks. We feel this store is something all families with young kids should experience. In addition to the fun experience behind the secret door, there is a Milk Bar you must try. We had the signature sundae called the Campfire S’mores Sundae, it was delicious. We highly recommend it.

As a gift, the store manager gave us a CAMP bag filled with crafts, thinking putty, a CAMP hat, edible bubbles and a reverse sequin journal. We can’t wait to go back to this store with our family and friends. Check it out online at
