Community theater has roles for kids, too

If you are looking for something fun to do in your community, community theater is for you. One thing that I love about community theater is that the other cast members are ages 11 and older. I did my theater work with the Bayswater Players in Far Rockaway. I started last August and was the youngest person in the show.

I recently was in the play “Into the Woods” in the role of Jack from “Jack and The Beanstalk.” This play is mostly a musical with little chunks of dialogue to tie the songs together. Other productions I have been in were “Peter Pan” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

For a show we need a lot of different people who know how to set up sound and lighting. For “Into the Woods” we practiced three times a week, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. To make a great show we studied our lines for over five months. Costumes are very important, too. I enjoy drama and acting out roles for wonderful productions.
