Dissecting a shark

Do you want to do something that can be disgusting but loads of fun? We participated in the dissection of a shark. The shark was a real shark that had been preserved. Everyone got a chance to dissect the shark to view its anatomy. It was a complex task and since we used knives, we had to have teacher supervision, but it was amazing!

During the experience we dissected a dogfish shark. The skin was rough so we used a scalpel to cut into it. Inside the body we were able to see all of its internal organs, which was interesting. We even saw the shark's brain and eyes up close. The shark came with a guide so we knew what each organ was.

It was gross and it smelled. We loved it. Sharks can also be ordered at This was something we won't ever forget.
