Frisbee is a golden retriever/Labrador mix. Frisbee was 2 years old when my family adopted him from the Canine Companions for Independence in Medford. He was training to become a work dog for the disabled, but he failed his test because he was too easily distracted. He's a great dog who loves to play with kids. We signed Frisbee up to become a therapy dog. He took several tests and passed them all. He knows 25 commands, including turning on lights and opening drawers. Frisbee is certified to go to hospitals and nursing homes.
We have already brought Frisbee to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and to St. Johnland Nursing Center. Frisbee loves to see the kids. Sometimes I'm allowed to go in with him and talk to the kids, but most of the time only my parents are allowed. We are hoping to bring Frisbee to the Smithtown Library to have the kids read to him in order to gain confidence. Frisbee is one of the best dogs I have ever had and I love him.
