My Girl Scout troop, Brownie Troop 667, and I had the Town of Islip Animal Shelter visit our troop meeting. They discussed what an animal shelter is, what a rescued animal is and why adopt one, and what shelters need. They rescue lots of cats and dogs, and they needed things like toys, blankets, towels, food, laundry detergent, and other things. So our troop decided to create posters asking kids in our school to help the shelter by donating the things needed. We hung up the posters in school, made a flyer that went home with every student and had a bin for donations.

We collected a whole minivan load of things! After a few weeks my troop leaders delivered all the donations to the Town of Islip Animal Shelter in Bay Shore. All of the rescue animals (and workers, too) were very happy with me and my troop!
