How did we get so attached to cellphones? Here’s a history

Over time, the world of cellphones has changed. Even cellphone plans have changed. Like, who remembers when you had only a limited number of minutes to call? Also, people couldn’t text when the first phones came out.

The Motorola DynaTAC 8000x was one of the first cellphones — it was like the size of a brick. When the Nokia 6110 came out in 1997, it was much smaller than the brick phones.

Then everyone wanted flip phones, and millions were sold when they came out.

The cellphone industry changed completely in 2007 when the first iPhone came out. It had a touch screen, and you could download apps and music and go on the internet. More smartphones started to get created.

Now we have phones that have everything we need in our daily life. We have access to check the weather and to go on the internet, and amazing cameras on our phones. Phones used to not even have cameras. Many phones being made now have fingerprint scanners so you can unlock your phone just by putting your finger on the sensor.

With the type of phones we have now, we don’t even need computers as much anymore. Where would we be without our cellphones?
