One of my favorite things to do is to give back to others in need. My neighbor Ashley has a children's foundation whose mission is to enrich the lives of children affected by chronic illnesses. The organization is called the Ashley Wade Foundation. It started when Ashley became very sick with Crohn's disease. The Ashley Wade Foundation makes care packages for sick children and holds family fun days.
I spend a lot of my time on the weekends helping Ashley put together care packages. The first step to making a care package is to go shopping to pick out toys and clothes for the kids. We bring everything home and put the toys in a basket. Ashley and I make the baskets look nice with ribbons and bows. Ashley then delivers these care packages to the kids.
I also hold lemonade sales in the summer to help raise money for the foundation. My sisters and I love to sell lemonade on our street corner because we know the money will be used to make other kids happy. So far, my sisters and I have raised more than $150. It makes me happy to know that I can help bring smiles to kids who are battling an illness. You can join me in helping sick kids by joining the Ashley Wade Foundation's Kids Helping Kids program.
