Kidsday: A Halloween candy survey

It's almost Halloween, so I decided to do a survey on kids' favorite types of candy. I offered six choices: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey's chocolate bars, Air Heads, lollipops, Starbursts and Twix bars. I handed out my surveys to 118 fourth- and fifth-grade students in my school. Here are my results:

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups 40

Air Heads 22

Twix bars 22

Hershey's chocolate bars 16

Lollipops 10

Starbursts 8

As the results show, many kids like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. It's a great snack! Chocolate and peanut butter -- yummy! Starbursts are OK, but they are so tiny.

Now everyone knows what kids would like in their Halloween treat bags this year!

So scary!

Do you like to be scared on Halloween? We asked 207 fourth- and fifth- graders from our school, and here's what we found out:

Yes 175

No 32

As you can see, we like it! Make it scary for us. Haunted houses, creepy costumes, strange noises -- they all work.

Here are some other ways you can scare your friends, family and even people you don't know: When trick-or-treaters come to your door, sit on a bench with a bowl of candy on your lap. If you stay perfectly still, they might think you are just a decoration. When they go to grab the candy, you can reach out to them and say, "Boo!" Play creepy music and open the door while you are in costume, too. Jumping out behind things when kids come to your door is fun, too!
