We dined at the Rock Center Cafe Summer Garden & Bar. It was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was peaceful and the food sent our taste buds on a flavorful journey. The main dining area is out on the Rockefeller Center skating rink area. They set up nice umbrellas and a really nice atmosphere.

The entrees we ordered were chicken tenders, a cheeseburger, fish and chips, and a grilled cheese sandwich. We sampled each other’s meals and rated them on scale of 1 to 5 smiles (5 is our highest rating).

We enjoyed the chicken tenders. We thought they were crispy enough for our liking. The outside was crispy and the chicken was well cooked and tasty. We give this meal 4 smiles.

We are cheeseburger connoisseurs. We have eaten cheeseburgers at many fine establishments. We have to say, the cheeseburger at Rock Center was the best we’ve ever had. The burger was juicy and had a perfect ratio of meat to cheese. We ordered it to be cooked medium, and they delivered. Rating: 5 smiles.

We also enjoyed the fish and chips. The portion was a perfect size for kids. The fish was cod which was light and fluffy; the batter was crispy and tasty. We give this meal 5 smiles.

And last was the grilled cheese sandwich. The bread was toasted to perfection and the cheese was melted just the way we like it. It tasted cheesy . . . in a good cheesy way. We rate this entree a 4.5.

The French fries that came with each entree were cooked to perfection. They were crispy and not too salty. We give the French fries a 5-smile rating.

The cherry on top of these scrumptious entrees was the sundaes we ordered. First we chose the flavor of our ice cream (chocolate, vanilla or strawberry) and then we were able to pick five delicious toppings and two ice cream syrup flavors. The ice cream sundaes were served on artist palette-type dishes. The sundae bowl rims were dipped in chocolate and covered in colorful sprinkles. The syrups were served in individual-sized squirt bottles. The toppings came in little cups. Some toppings we ordered were mini M&Ms, minimarshmallows, cookie dough, brownie bites, gummy bears and sprinkles. We also received a slice of confetti cake, a cupcake and a huge rainbow-swirl lollipop.

Dining at the Rock Center Summer Garden Cafe was an amazing experience. Overall, we give this restaurant 4.5 smiles out of 5. We highly recommend that you go there when you visit Manhattan.
