Have you ever looked in your closet and said I have too many outfits? Well in some parts of the world, families can barely afford food to eat, let alone more than one outfit. Wouldn't it be a good idea if we could make our own clothing?
This is exactly what my Girl Scout troop did as a service project. We decided to make dresses for little girls in Africa out of pillow cases and ribbon. It was very fun to do and inexpensive too. It was such a fun and rewarding experience as our troop learned how to use a sewing machine, stitch by hand and use an iron.
We couldn't express the overwhelming feelings we felt knowing that our hard work would make a difference in the lives of a few young girls. So the next time you are shopping for pillow cases, think of the girls in Africa that we helped.
