In the book “The Tiara On the Terrace,” by Kristen Kittscher (Harper), two girls (Sophie Young, who’s telling the story, and Grace Yang, her best friend) are spies and they solve the biggest crime of Luna Vista history. As the 125th annual winter sun festival time comes around and on the first day of “Festival Prep,” the festival president, Jim Steptoe is found dead on one of the parade floats.

Steptoe was hit by an “accidental” giant s’more on the Girl Scout float. Sophie and Grace think someone set out to get rid of Steptoe. They decide to investigate.

They realize this job isn’t as easy as they thought it was going to be when things become a little tense between the two girls. The girls find out the truth about “who done it” and it is a little scarier than they expected.

I liked the mystery of the story because after every couple of chapters there was a cliffhanger. The author did a great job of describing the characters, so I felt like I was part of the story.
